Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables

  • 400 g beef mince can use any minced meat
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 100 g carrot, grated

Sauce

  • 2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
  • 400 ml stock made from stock cube

Pasta

  • 400 g dried spaghetti

Others

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Cooking Steps

  • Heat a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the beef mince, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.
  • Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the saucepan and fry the onions with salt for 5-6 minutes until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another 2 minutes. Stir in the grated carrot, then return the mince and juices back to the saucepan.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and stock to the saucepan, bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 45 minutes until thick and rich. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
  • In a separate saucepan, boil salted water and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Once cooked, drain and combine with the bolognese sauce. Mix well and serve.

Notes

This sauce can be made in advance and frozen for up to 3 months. Browning the meat thoroughly improves flavor.
